MCS NIR-Workshop 2014 Saumur France

On March 31st and April 1st and 2nd, the third MCSubstradd® NIRS-Conference took place in Saumur, France.

35 composters from Europe and abroad gathered in France’s “Mushroom-capital”, where France Champignon (part of Bonduelle) hosted the seminar, this year focussed on straw-quality and the new MCS NIRS Straw-line.

During the seminar, presentations were given by Jan Mink (Bonduelle), Yves Moriametz (France Champignon/Euromycel), consultant Bart Driessen, Geert Lemmens (Monaghan), Bart de Leeuw (MCSubstradd®) and others.

The seminar focussed on the results and progress of the highly anticipated NIR Straw-project, offering a wide range of new parameters to measure and improve compost-quality and thus mushroom yield.

The lectures were followed by small group-discussions on how to take maximum benefit of the NIR-program and a general meeting where the conclusions were presented to all.

Of course, the Seminar also included site visits to France Champignon's Compost and Growing facilities at La Tourte and its impressing Canning-factory in Thouars. And naturally, the Seminar also included visits to Saumur's famous traditional Mushroom-caves and wineries.

Thank you France Champignon for being the host!
